Rujing is an artist and designer based in Sydney. Her curiosity about the world drives her to create work in painting, textiles and user experience design. Her paintings are her visual language used to depict the hidden treasures of the Bible and explore the spiritual world. Unlike paintings, which convey messages in detail, textile works are more wild and direct in their use of material textures. Being a Christian is who I am in this world. My values and the way I see the world are guided by the Bible. Therefore, my paintings seek to reveal the unseen spiritual world while using design to raise questions about the social issues of the day.
Textiles offer the best way to reveal the spiritual world in the most tangible way. I believe that spirits are also clothed, just as the Bible says. We are sometimes unaware of our spiritual state. Therefore, I have attempted to create clothing as a medium to synchronise these two states.
